Pete Williams started his career at KATI Radio in Casper. During his years at Stanford University he was staff announcer covering important news stories. In 1974, Pete was hired at KTWO TV and Radio as the morning news anchor and city reporter. He later became news director. For over a decade he covered the courts. He reported on Wyoming politics as well. He produced a series of prime-time documentaries on Wyoming Energy. He offered inside workings of the Legislature. His 1979 documentary, “A Man to Match His Mountains”, opened the first climbing and guide school in the Tetons. In 1979 Pete was hired by National Public Radio to co-anchor the launch of their early morning program, Morning Edition. It was not meant to be, as they purged the entire staff. He moved back to Casper as News Director. In the mid-80’s, he was Press Secretary for Dick Cheney. When Dick Cheney became Sec. of Defense, he became Press Secretary and a trusted advisor and Press Secretary. He then joined NBS to cover the Supreme Court and Justice Department. He covered many important issues on the FBI, CIA and many top stories around the country. He also covered the 9-11 Terrorist attack at the World Trade Center. He also covered many important trials to follow the horrific attack. He also covered the information on the Virginia Tech attacks as well. Over his career he has brought many stories to the viewers at NBC News. From top news stories, to elections gone bad (Florida – Al Gore and George W. Bush), Supreme Court rulings, terrorist attacks, Pete Williams has been a trusted face for the people.
